St. Paul Lutheran School and Preschool has welcomed four new instructional aides to its growing preschool program: Jazmin Castro, Ezmeralda Hurtado, Carolina Sanchez, and Elise Sturzenacker.
The new team members work closely with preschool and transitional kindergarten teachers to provide individualized attention and support for students. Their responsibilities include assisting with daily educational activities, supporting faith-based learning, maintaining safe classroom environments, and helping children develop social, cognitive, and motor skills.
“These dedicated educators are already making a difference in our classrooms,” said Principal Ruth Sebastian. “They bring diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to nurturing our youngest learners in a Christ-centered environment.”

The expansion reflects St. Paul’s commitment to maintaining small class sizes and personalized attention as preschool enrollment continues to grow. Each instructional aide supports the school’s mission of providing quality early childhood education while building strong foundations in faith and learning.
Among the new staff members, Jazmin Castro brings unique experience as a former nurse who transitioned to education. The mother of three holds an Associate’s Degree in Child Development and represents the diverse professional backgrounds that enrich St. Paul’s teaching team.
The preschool program serves children ages 2-5 with both full-day and half-day options. St. Paul maintains class sizes that allow for the individualized attention that supports each child’s development.
As the preschool program continues to expand, St. Paul has openings for a preschool teacher and preschool director. Position descriptions and application information are available at the school’s employment page.
St. Paul School and Preschool is located at 2916 McKee Road in Merced and has been serving Central Valley families since 1991. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA).
