St. Paul Educators Honored for Years of Service

Two St. Paul School and Preschool educators were recently recognized for their years of dedicated service at the annual Central/Northern California-Hawaii (CNH) District Spring In-Service held on March 21 at Our Savior Lutheran Church & School in Livermore.

Principal Ruth Sebastian was honored for 20 years of service in education, while kindergarten teacher Bethany Bogle celebrated her 10-year anniversary. They were among 26 educators recognized as “jubilarians” — a term that marks major milestone anniversaries in 5-year increments.

Principal Ruth Sebastian is celebrating 20 years in education. She has been principal at St. Paul School and Preschool since Fall 2024.

“A strong Christian education doesn’t mean we compromise on academics,” said Principal Sebastian. “At St. Paul, we maintain high standards while teaching through a biblical worldview. Our students consistently perform above grade level because we combine rigorous academics with character development and faith formation.”

Mrs. Bogle, who came to St. Paul as a new Concordia University graduate with a Lutheran teaching certificate, expressed her joy about reaching this milestone.

“Teaching kindergartners about Jesus has been the greatest blessing of my career,” said Mrs. Bogle. “Five-year-olds are at such a wonderful stage. They’re curious about everything, including their faith. Every day for the past decade, I’ve had the chance to help young minds understand Bible stories in ways that make sense to them. It never gets old!”

The annual in-service brought together 180 educators from across the district. The event featured keynote speaker Chris McKenna from Protect Young Eyes, who addressed appropriate technology use for children. Educators also participated in grade-level discussions and networking opportunities.

Next time you’re on campus, make a point to congratulate Mrs. Sebastian and Mrs. Bogle for their outstanding commitment to education and our school.

St. Paul School and Preschool is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA).
